Ingredients

5 medium apples
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Spray a 9 x 9-inch pan with cooking spray.

Peel, core and slice apples.

Combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons flour and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Add sliced apples and toss to coat.

Pour apple mixture into prepared pan.

In a medium bowl, mix oatmeal, remaining flour, brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, baking soda and baking powder. Cut butter into this mixture with a pastry blender or a fork.

Pour topping over apples and bake for 1 hour.
Helpful hints
- Make this dessert diabetes-friendly. Substitute Splenda® granular for white sugar and Splenda® brown sugar blend for brown sugar with to reduce calories to 280 and carbohydrate to 20 grams per serving.
- 1 medium apple yields approximately 1 cup after peeled and cored.
